Virtual Professional Learning Communities (V-PLCs)

Project Description

Through its work with the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Meeder Consulting facilitates Virtual Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) for teachers, helping them strengthen the integration of mathematics into CTE courses, and improve their design and delivery of curriculum. We are also convening a group of school-based math coaches to create a guide for operating a math-initiative in a regional technical school. In previous years, Meeder Consulting facilitated Virtual PLCs organized around key areas important to CTE: Support and Guidance, Partnerships, Leadership and Academic Integration / 21st Century Skills. Each of the PLCs created an “implementation guide” that summarized and systematized the best professional practices across the Commonwealth.

Each PLC offers a series of four to six webinars over the course of the school year. Many webinars include expert guests that offer information on emerging research and practical applications relating to the PLC focus area. PLC members are also encouraged to share information about their own programs and initiatives.

The overall goal of this effort is to help strengthen a culture of learning, collaboration across institutions and regions, and continuous professional growth among Pennsylvania’s CTE administrators and educators.
