In 2011-12, Meeder Consulting set out to identify and document key elements to building and maintaining effective leadership relationships among regional technical center administrators, members of their operating/governing boards and partner school superintendents (those that send students to the technical center). Our research was part of the “Best Practices Initiative,” a project funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Bureau of Career and Technical Education (BCTE) under the leadership of Dr. Lee Burket.
To gather input, we conducted a series of interviews and focus groups with Pennsylvania technical center directors, superintendents from partner school districts and operating board members who volunteered to share their insight and experiences. We also reviewed resources and met with leaders and staff from BCTE, the Pennsylvania Association of Career and Technical Administrators (PACTA), the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators (PASA) and the Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA).
The guide, released in the spring of 2013, contains practical advice and suggestions for each of the three key stakeholder groups. Download and read the guide by clicking here.
